**HYDERABAD, INDIA (December 4, 2024)** – Google announced today a major partnership with the Telangana state government to establish its first Google Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) in Hyderabad, India. This will be the fifth GSEC globally and the first in the Asia-Pacific region, following centers in Dublin, Munich, Malaga, and Tokyo.
The GSEC will focus on developing advanced security and online safety products tailored for the Indian market, leveraging AI-driven solutions and collaborating with local experts and researchers. The center is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, boosting cybersecurity capabilities and skill development within India.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy hailed the partnership, emphasizing Hyderabad’s position as a global technology hub and its commitment to digital skill development. He met with a Google delegation, including CIO Royal Hansen, who expressed excitement about establishing the GSEC in Hyderabad and its potential to become a global center for safety engineering.
The partnership extends beyond the GSEC. Google and the Telangana government are exploring collaborations in education, the startup ecosystem (potentially including a Google Startup Hub), the development of a Google-powered Intelligent Traffic Management System, and contributions to Hyderabad’s “Future City” initiative. Discussions are also underway for a major Google Cloud Center of Excellence in the city.
This significant investment underscores Google’s commitment to India and positions Hyderabad as a leading player in global cybersecurity.
