Tue Dec 03 23:44:05 UTC 2024: ## Himachal Pradesh CM Accuses BJP of Leaving State in Ruins
**Chandigarh, December 4, 2024** – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday, accusing the previous BJP government of mismanaging the state’s finances and leaving it in a dire economic situation. Speaking at a public gathering in Mandi district, Sukhu announced the fulfillment of seven key election promises on December 11, marking the Congress government’s two-year anniversary.
Sukhu highlighted the Congress government’s dissolution of the Subordinate Services Selection Commission following corruption allegations, a move he contrasted with the BJP’s alleged attempt to cover up the scandal. He also criticized the BJP for opening nearly 900 institutions without adequate budgetary provisions close to the elections, calling it a betrayal of the people. He pledged that the current government would only establish new institutions after ensuring sufficient staffing and resources.
The Chief Minister further blamed the BJP for leaving the state with a massive debt burden and insufficient funds to operate for even a month. He countered BJP criticism by citing the government’s positive financial actions, including the restoration of the old pension scheme for 1.36 lakh government employees, an 11% dearness allowance increase for employees and pensioners, and a hike in police diet allowances to ₹1,000. These measures, he argued, demonstrate the state’s improving financial health.
Sukhu dismissed pre-election BJP criticisms regarding issues like a “toilet tax” and “samosas” as trivial politics.
