**Bengaluru, December 2, 2024** – The 69th annual conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOACON 2024) kicked off in Bengaluru today, bringing together over 6,000 delegates from across India and abroad. Hosted by the Karnataka Orthopaedic Association at Bengaluru Palace, the conference, themed “Enhancing Skills – Optimising Care,” marks its return to the city after a 16-year hiatus.
The week-long event (December 2-7) features a comprehensive program including a postgraduate training program at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), 17 workshops at various Bengaluru hospitals (including cadaveric and live surgery workshops), and a main conference starting December 5th. The main conference will involve presentations, lectures, and interactive sessions focusing on advancements and technologies in orthopaedics.
In conjunction with the conference, a Road Safety Awareness Week commenced on December 1st, culminating in a 5K walkathon on December 5th at Bengaluru Palace. This initiative aims to raise public awareness about road safety and accident prevention. Conference chairperson H.S. Chandrashekar highlighted the significance of this public health campaign.
