Rajkot, November 27: Bihar secured their first victory in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, defeating Meghalaya by 8 runs in a thrilling encounter at the Nirjharan Shah Stadium Ground C. Captain Sakibul Gani led the charge with a stellar 65-run knock, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bihar posted a challenging 169/7 in their 20 overs. Gani’s impressive innings, studded with four boundaries and three sixes, formed the backbone of Bihar’s innings. He received valuable support from Vipin Saurabh (25), Ayush Loharuka (23), Kumar Rajnish (21), and Sachin Kumar Singh (20*). Meghalaya’s Himan (2/20) and Swarjeet Das (2/45) were the pick of the bowlers.
In response, Meghalaya reached 161/8, falling just short of the target. Arpit Subhash top-scored for Meghalaya with 65 runs. However, a crucial late-innings collapse, triggered by Sakib Hussain’s wicket of W Nongkhalwa, and a tight final over bowled by Amod Yadav, sealed the victory for Bihar. Sachin Kumar Singh (2/31), Himanshu Singh (2/33), and Amod Yadav (2/27) were the main wicket-takers for Bihar.
Bihar’s next match is scheduled for November 29th against Hyderabad.
