Tue Dec 03 03:06:17 UTC 2024: ## Al Nassr Suffers First Asian Champions League Defeat Despite Ronaldo’s Presence
**Riyadh, Saudi Arabia** – Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club featuring global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, suffered their first defeat in this year’s Asian Champions League Elite on Monday, losing 2-1 to Qatar’s Al Sadd in injury time. While Ronaldo, rested for the match, watched from the stands alongside his mother and partner, Al Nassr’s unbeaten run came to an end in a dramatic finish.
Akram Afif, the reigning AFC Player of the Year, put Al Sadd ahead in the 53rd minute with a solo effort. Al Nassr equalized in the 80th minute through an own goal by Romain Saiss. However, Al Sadd secured the victory in the 99th minute when Afif was fouled in the penalty area, leading to a successful spot-kick conversion by substitute Adam Ounas.
Despite the loss, Al Nassr remains in third place in their group and qualifies for the knockout stages. Meanwhile, Al Sadd’s win propels them into fourth place, also securing their place in the last 16.
In other group stage action, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli, despite surrendering their perfect record, maintained their top spot after a 2-2 draw with Iran’s Esteghlal. England international Ivan Toney scored two penalties for Al Ahli, continuing his impressive form in the tournament.
