Tue Dec 03 15:25:40 UTC 2024: ## Coimbatore Farmers Embrace Online Market for Better Prices

**COIMBATORE, December 3, 2024** – A pilot program in Coimbatore district is empowering farmers by connecting them directly to buyers through the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) online platform. Fifteen villages in Thondamuthur block are now participating in farm gate sales, eliminating middlemen and allowing farmers to receive competitive prices for their produce.

Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati stated that the initiative facilitates direct bidding through the e-NAM platform, ensuring fairer returns for cultivators. Dedicated coordinators are providing training and support to farmers, enabling them to navigate the online trading system and participate effectively in the bidding process.

The e-NAM portal offers a single window for all APMC-related information, including commodity prices, quality, and market trends. The system also facilitates direct electronic payments into farmers’ accounts, further reducing reliance on intermediaries.

The e-NAM platform currently covers regulated markets in nine locations across Coimbatore district. Officials highlighted the system’s transparent and competitive price discovery mechanism, offering better marketing opportunities and enhanced financial independence for local farmers.
