**Bengaluru, December 2, 2024** – Bengaluru and several districts in Karnataka experienced heavy rainfall on Sunday, December 1st, due to the lingering effects of Cyclone Fengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall for the next three days, issuing a yellow alert for several districts.
Bengaluru itself recorded 3.8 mm of rainfall, while HAL airport and KIA recorded 7 mm and 2.2 mm respectively. Temperatures were significantly lower than normal, with a departure of up to 5 degrees Celsius.
As a precautionary measure, schools and colleges in Kolar and Chickballapur districts have been declared closed on December 2nd due to the persistent downpour. The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall across most of the state, with heavier rainfall expected in south Karnataka. The impact of the cyclone is expected to continue for at least the next 72 hours.
