Mon Dec 02 06:45:07 UTC 2024: ## Hyderabad Game Developers Reach Top 5 at India Game Developer Conference

**Hyderabad, December 2, 2024** – Three Hyderabad-based game developers, Abhishek Singh, Jay Jain, and Ram Mohan, from the Backstage Pass Institute of Gaming, have achieved national recognition, placing in the top five of the Student Game of the Year category at the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) in Hyderabad.

The IGDC, established in 2023, is a leading platform for game developers across India and South Asia. This year’s conference showcased the talent of aspiring and established game developers, culminating in awards across 12 categories.

Abhishek Singh’s card deck game, “Warbound,” a strategic action RPG involving empire building, impressed the judges. Singh, whose previous games, “Paperly,” “Lazer Tanks,” and “Webslinger,” are available on Google Play and the App Store, drew inspiration from classic games like Road Rash and the GTS series. He aims to release “Warbound” next year.

Jay Jain’s entry, “Disengage,” a 2D space adventure game created within a 48-hour game jam, offers a unique blend of exploration and self-reflection. Jain, also a digital music composer, noted that his parents readily supported his gaming career path, seeing it as a more stable alternative to a music career.

Ram Mohan’s game, “Slunkey,” a 2D platformer featuring a mischievous, gooey monkey navigating a banana factory, showcases his artistic talent and was developed collaboratively with fellow institute alumni. The game emphasizes engaging gameplay through unique mechanics and humor.

The trio encourages aspiring game developers to explore indie games and provide feedback to help improve the quality of Indian-developed games. They emphasize the importance of following one’s dreams and pursuing passions, as evident in their own successful foray into the competitive gaming industry.
