**Dubai, December 1, 2024** – Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), officially assumed his role as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) today. His appointment, which followed an uncontested election in August, marks a new chapter for global cricket. Shah’s two-year term began today, sparking widespread congratulations on social media.

Shah becomes the fifth Indian to hold this prestigious position, following in the footsteps of Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. He also sets a record as the youngest-ever ICC Chairman.

In his acceptance speech, Shah outlined his vision, stating his commitment to expanding cricket globally and working closely with all ICC member nations.
