Sun Dec 01 10:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Sees Temperature Spike After Chilly Spell

**Hyderabad, November 30, 2024** – Telangana state experienced a significant temperature rise on Saturday, November 30th, after a ten-day period of unusually cold weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed the increase to Cyclone Fengal in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone’s low-pressure system trapped heat, creating a blanket effect from the thick cloud cover and resulting in warmer temperatures due to the moist air.

Several districts saw dramatic temperature increases. Adilabad, which had single-digit temperatures on Friday, reached 14.6°C on Saturday. Other districts, including Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Siddipet, Nirmal, Rajanna Sircilla, and Rangareddy, also experienced similar increases. Hyderabad’s minimum temperature jumped to 20.7°C from a weekly average of 15°C.

The IMD also issued a thunderstorm alert for nine districts – Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal – for Sunday. Hyderabad is expected to have a cloudy sky with misty or hazy conditions in the morning, with a high of 30°C and a low of 21°C.
