Sun Dec 01 00:07:30 UTC 2024: ## BRS Attacks Congress Over Telangana Paddy Production Claims

**Hyderabad, December 1, 2024** – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has sharply criticized Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s claims that the Congress government is solely responsible for the record paddy production this Kharif season. Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao dismissed the claims made at a recent “Rythu Panduga” event, accusing the Chief Minister of neglecting farmers’ concerns.

Rao highlighted the Congress government’s failure to announce a complete ₹2 lakh crop loan waiver, investment support under Rythu Bharosa, or extension of the scheme to tenant farmers and farmworkers. He questioned the Chief Minister’s assertion of ownership over the Rythu Bima scheme, originally introduced by the BRS government.

Attributing the increase in paddy production from 68 lakh tonnes in 2014 to 1.68 crore tonnes in 2023 to the BRS government’s irrigation projects, Rao cited the completion of several projects, including Kaleshwaram, leading to an expansion of cultivated land from 1.31 crore acres to 2.21 crore acres. He further highlighted the significant increase in ayacut under various projects implemented by the BRS government.

Rao challenged the Chief Minister to substantiate his claims and also to explain the lack of progress on the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. He concluded by demanding proof of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao owning a 1,000-acre farmhouse, a claim frequently leveled by the Congress party.
