**Hyderabad, November 28, 2024** – A 26-year-old woman engaged as a surrogate mother died after falling from the ninth floor of a building in Raidurg, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. Ashritha Singh, originally from Odisha, was attempting to escape from the residence through the balcony in the early hours of November 26th when she fell and died at the scene.
According to police, Ms. Singh and her husband were residing at the My Home Bhuja apartment building, provided accommodation by the commissioning couple, Rajesh Babu and his wife. They had moved to Hyderabad approximately a month ago while awaiting legal approval for the surrogacy. Police investigations indicate that Ms. Singh had sought to withdraw from the surrogacy process, having discussed it with her husband. The incident is currently under investigation.
