COIMBATORE, November 27, 2024 – M. Krishnamoorthy, a Ward 56 councillor for the Coimbatore Corporation representing the Indian National Congress, was found dead on the banks of the Noyyal river near Sulur late Wednesday night. Police suspect the death was accidental.
According to police reports, Krishnamoorthy, a resident of Ondipudur, was found around 9:30 pm. Preliminary investigations suggest he exited his car near a bridge, slipped on a discarded food wrapper, and fell approximately 15 feet. His body was discovered about four feet from the river’s edge. He was transported to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police believe Krishnamoorthy may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and had stopped to relieve himself. Further investigations are underway to identify any individuals who were with him and to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding his death.
