**Thiruvananthapuram, November 27, 2024** – The Kerala State government has announced plans to implement a comprehensive new policy for its plantation sector within three months. The policy will be based on a recent study conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K).
Industries Minister P. Rajeeve revealed the plan at the presentation of the IIM-K report, organized by the Plantations Directorate. The report outlines strategies for preserving existing plantation areas and establishing new buffer zones. The Minister emphasized the need for an approved master plan when utilizing the permitted 5% of plantation land for tourism purposes. He also suggested the creation of a single-window clearance board to streamline the process of land utilization within the sector.
Minister Rajeeve urged plantation owners and stakeholders to increase investment in the sector to boost employment opportunities. The new policy aims to revitalize the Kerala plantation industry and ensure its sustainable future.
