**Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh:** Five doctors pursuing postgraduate studies at Saifai Medical College perished in a tragic road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway late Tuesday night. The accident occurred when their car, reportedly driven by a sleepy driver, crossed the divider and collided with an oncoming truck. A sixth occupant of the car, Jayveer Singh, sustained serious injuries.
The doctors, identified as Dr. Anirudh Verma, Dr. Santosh Kumar Maurya, Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Nardev, and a senior storekeeper, Rakesh Kumar, were returning to Saifai after attending a wedding in Lucknow. Police received notification of the accident at 3:43 AM and transported the victims to a hospital, where five were pronounced dead. The bodies have been sent to the morgue. The injured individual is receiving treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, attributing it to driver fatigue.
