**Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh:** Five people, including four doctors from Saifai Medical College, were killed in a tragic car accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway early Wednesday morning. The accident occurred around 4:00 AM near kilometer marker 196-200 in the Tirwa Kotwali area of Kannauj district.
The doctors, identified as Dr. Aniruddha Verma, Dr. Santosh Kumar Maurya, Dr. Arun Kumar, and Dr. Nardev, were returning from a wedding in Lucknow when their speeding car lost control, crossed the divider, and collided head-on with a truck. The impact was so severe that the car overturned, resulting in the immediate deaths of five occupants. The identity of the fifth deceased remains unconfirmed.
A sixth occupant, Dr. Jayveer Singh, sustained serious injuries and was transferred to Saifai Medical College for treatment.
Dr. C.P. Pal, principal of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Medical College in Kannauj, confirmed that five bodies were brought to the hospital and pronounced dead. Four of the deceased were identified through their ID cards as doctors. Officials have notified the families of the victims. One of the deceased doctors was reportedly a resident of Kannauj.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure proper medical care for the injured doctor. He also wished for a speedy recovery for the survivor. The incident is under investigation.
