**Rome, Italy –** External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the need for a wider collaborative approach in the Indo-Pacific region during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) Outreach Session in Fiuggi, Italy. Attending as a guest, Mr. Jaishankar highlighted the “significant changes” and new partnerships emerging in the region, citing the Quad’s evolution as a notable development.

Mr. Jaishankar called for six key responses: increased collaboration in maritime security, semiconductors, and supply chains; more resources to support projects while avoiding unsustainable debt; enhanced capacities in governance, health, and technology; improved interoperability and burden-sharing; respect for international law and mutual benefits; and more policy options for Indo-Pacific decision-makers.

His participation followed the recent Quad summit, where leaders expressed concerns over the situation in the East and South China Seas. During his visit, Mr. Jaishankar also held bilateral meetings with counterparts from the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Italy, the U.K., France, and Ukraine, discussing various areas of cooperation and regional developments. He specifically noted productive discussions with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on technology, innovation, and investment, highlighting a recently announced Joint Strategic Action Plan.
