Tue Nov 26 16:53:39 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Orders Swift Action to Aid Microscopic Tribal Communities

**Bengaluru, November 26, 2024** – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued a 15-day deadline for the Food and Civil Supplies Department to issue Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards to all microscopic tribal families in the state. This directive, delivered during a Tuesday meeting with ministers and officials, is part of a broader initiative to improve the living conditions of these communities.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to provide essential services, including roads, drinking water, electricity, land deeds, and graveyards, to Scheduled Tribe (ST) families residing in remote areas and near forests, particularly in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu districts. He instructed the Revenue, Forest, and Social Welfare Departments to collaborate on delivering these welfare measures. Local recruitment of eligible ST members into the Health Department was also mandated.

Addressing housing shortages, Mr. Siddaramaiah directed Deputy Commissioners to provide housing sites, ideally near forests to facilitate rehabilitation, through the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Ltd. He cited figures indicating significant housing deficits: 2,963 families in Mysuru district lack sites, while 1,222 have received sites but haven’t built homes. In Chamarajanagar, 2,761 families are in a similar situation. The government aims to rectify these issues swiftly.
