**Hyderabad, November 27, 2024** – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has launched an investigation into the state of Telangana’s educational institutions following a series of food poisoning incidents resulting in student deaths. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao announced a “Gurukula Bata” program, running from November 30th to December 7th, to assess conditions in Gurukul schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Model Schools, and government hostels.
The investigation will be conducted by a five-member committee headed by former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar. Mr. Rao stated that 48 students have died in 38 food poisoning incidents over the past year, blaming the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for “criminal negligence.” He criticized the absence of a dedicated Education Minister and accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing national politics over local concerns.
The committee will interview students, parents, and staff to identify problems and propose solutions. BRS leaders and local representatives, including women leaders, will also participate in the inspections, with a special focus on girls’ schools. The findings will be compiled into a report to be presented to the BRS leadership during the upcoming winter session of the Assembly.
