Wed Nov 27 00:56:18 UTC 2024: ## Barcelona’s Camp Nou Return Delayed Until Mid-February
**Barcelona, Spain** – FC Barcelona announced Wednesday that their highly anticipated return to the Camp Nou stadium will be delayed until at least mid-February due to ongoing modernization and expansion work. The club will continue to play home La Liga matches at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium.
The initial return date was expected before the end of 2024, but complications including permit issues and complaints regarding working conditions have slowed the project. The club cited UEFA regulations prohibiting stadium changes during the Champions League’s opening phase and the significant logistical and financial burdens of operating two stadiums concurrently as reasons for the delay.
Matches against Valencia (January 26th) and Alaves (February 2nd) will therefore be played at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. The club hopes to host Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou on February 16th. The full Espai Barca project, including the complete stadium roof and a final capacity of 105,000, is still slated for completion in the summer of 2026. As a precaution, Barcelona has requested an extension of their Montjuïc stadium lease until March 31st, 2025.
