Wed Nov 27 06:28:39 UTC 2024: **Honda to Launch Activa Electric Scooter on November 27th**
BENGALURU, INDIA – Honda is set to launch its highly anticipated Activa Electric scooter on November 27th. This will mark Honda’s entry into the electric two-wheeler market in India. The scooter will feature a swappable battery system, with battery swapping stations already established in Bengaluru. While the official specifications are yet to be released, teasers suggest a compact charging socket protected by a weatherproof flap, indicating the possibility of both removable and fixed battery options.
The Activa Electric’s design and mechanics are expected to draw heavily from Honda’s CUV e concept scooter, showcased at the 2024 EICMA show and 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. The CUV e boasts features such as a dual TFT display (with a 7-inch option offering smartphone connectivity), 12-inch alloy wheels, a reverse mode, and three riding modes (Standard, Sport, and Eco). It is powered by a 1.3 kWh removable battery pack, offering a range of up to 70 km on a single charge and a top speed of 80 kmph.
While a recent social media trend highlighted a DIY conversion of a petrol Activa into an electric scooter with a 2.88 kWh battery offering 120 km range, Honda’s official Activa Electric is expected to have different specifications. The company has remained tight-lipped about the final specs of the Activa Electric but the anticipation is high for Honda’s first foray into the Indian electric two-wheeler market.
