COIMBATORE, INDIA (November 26, 2024) – A vibrant Andhra food festival is underway at The Living Room restaurant in Coimbatore, offering a diverse menu showcasing the region’s unique culinary traditions. Chef Anandraj Murugesan explains that the festival aims to introduce diners to the diverse flavors of Andhra Pradesh, including dishes like the Guntur pandu mirapakaya kodi (chicken in a fiery red sauce with a hint of sweetness), and the Kadappa mamsa pulusu (mutton cooked in tamarind water and spices). The menu also boasts a Rajabhojanam thali, a grand platter featuring 23 dishes including various podis, pachadis, pickles, starters, gravies, and desserts like gulkand lassi and paanagam.

Patrons can sample a variety of appetizers, such as the alasanda vada (black-eyed pea fritters) with a fiery chili dip, and the kamju pitta vepudu (quail fry). The ulavacharu biryani, a vegetarian dish from Vijayawada made with horse gram, is also a highlight. Traditional breads like ragi roti, jowar roti, and ragi mudde accompany various meat and vegetarian curries.
