Tue Nov 26 14:45:18 UTC 2024: ## IPL 2025 Auction Snub: Kaif Slams Shaw’s Lack of Success

**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has heavily criticized Prithvi Shaw after the batsman failed to attract any bids at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Shaw, once touted as a rising star, went unsold despite a base price of ₹75 lakh.

Kaif, who coached Shaw at the Delhi Capitals, expressed disappointment, stating that Shaw should be “embarrassed” by his lack of success. He highlighted the numerous opportunities Shaw received at Delhi Capitals, even recounting late-night team meetings debating his inclusion in the playing XI due to inconsistent performance. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, such as hitting Shivam Mavi for six consecutive fours in an over, Shaw’s overall inconsistency ultimately cost him.

Kaif contrasted Shaw’s situation with that of Sarfaraz Khan, who earned a national team call-up through consistent high-scoring performances. He suggested Shaw needs to return to basics to reignite his career. Shaw’s IPL career, which began in 2018 with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), ended with him going unsold, a stark reminder of his unrealized potential. Despite a promising Test debut century against the West Indies, his international career was short-lived, consisting of only five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I.
