Tue Nov 26 14:44:08 UTC 2024: ## IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Surprise Snubs and a 13-Year-Old Millionaire

**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** The IPL 2025 mega auction concluded in Jeddah on Sunday and Monday, with a total of 182 players purchased for ₹639.15 crore. However, the auction saw several high-profile players go unsold, surprising cricket fans worldwide. A total of 577 players were initially listed.

Among the notable omissions were several international stars, including Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Johnny Bairstow, and David Warner, all of whom had base prices of ₹2 crore or more. Other notable players who failed to attract bids were Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Kieron Pollard (base price ₹75 lakhs each). This unexpected outcome highlights the competitive and strategic nature of the IPL auction.

Despite these surprises, the auction saw some record-breaking moments. Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player, purchased by the Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering ₹27 crore. Shreyas Iyer (₹26.75 crore, Punjab Kings) and Venkatesh Iyer (₹23.75 crore, Kolkata Knight Riders) also fetched massive bids, and are expected to captain their respective teams.

The auction also featured an unprecedented moment with the inclusion of 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar. His participation generated considerable buzz, ultimately resulting in Rajasthan Royals securing his services for ₹1.10 crore, making him the youngest player ever to be sold at an IPL auction and the youngest IPL millionaire.
