**Jajpur, Odisha, November 25, 2024** – The Jajpur district administration has imposed prohibitory orders in Jajpur town following an alleged attack on Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo on November 20th. The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), covers the Jajpur police station area and Biraja Haat.
The incident sparked tension in the district, leading to a Sunday flag march by police, including Eastern Range DIG Satyajit Naik, Jajpur Collector P. Anvesha Reddy, and Jajpur SP Yash Pratap Shrimal. Authorities have deployed 28 platoons of police to maintain order and prevent further disturbances.
Nineteen arrests have been made in connection with the attack on the MLA and related incidents at Biraja Haat. Four special squads are conducting raids to apprehend additional suspects.
Collector Reddy announced plans to meet with stakeholders regarding Biraja Haat, aiming for a peaceful resolution that won’t disrupt the Biraja Parikrama Project. Meanwhile, the CID Crime Branch has launched an investigation into the attack on the MLA, a road blockade related to the Biraja Haat issue, and a protest outside the Jajpur Town Police Station.
