JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA – November 24, 2024 – The Mumbai Indians (MI) have significantly strengthened their roster for the upcoming 2025 IPL season, adding a blend of experienced veterans and promising newcomers at the IPL auction held in Jeddah. The most significant signing is the return of New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, acquired for a hefty Rs 12.5 crore.
Other notable additions include Naman Dhir, a breakout star from the 2024 season, retained via the Right to Match (RTM) card for Rs 5.25 crore after a competitive bidding war. Robin Minz, the first tribal player in IPL history, joins the team for Rs 65 lakh, adding to their diversity. Finally, experienced spinner Karn Sharma was signed for Rs 50 lakh, bolstering MI’s spin bowling department.
With these acquisitions, MI aims to rebound from a disappointing 2024 season which saw them finish at the bottom of the table. The team will be captained by Hardik Pandya and coached by the returning Mahela Jayawardene. The franchise still has Rs 11.05 crore and 5 overseas player slots remaining.
The Mumbai Indians’ 2025 squad currently includes: Jasprit Bumrah, Allah Ghazanfar, Deepak Chahar, Suryakumar Yadav, Ryan Rickelton, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Trent Boult, Naman Dhir, Robin Minz, and Karn Sharma. Their goal is clear: reclaim their position at the top of the IPL standings.
