Sat Nov 23 08:22:09 UTC 2024: ## NDA Leads in Uttar Pradesh By-Elections, BJP Secures Surprise Wins

**Lucknow, India** – Preliminary results from Uttar Pradesh’s nine high-stakes by-elections show the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leading in seven constituencies, a significant boost for the BJP. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is currently ahead in two. These by-elections, seen as a crucial test before the 2025 state assembly elections, have witnessed intense competition between the BJP and SP, with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also vying for influence.

The most surprising outcome is the BJP’s lead in Kundarki, a Muslim-majority constituency, where BJP candidate Ramveer Singh is significantly ahead of his SP opponent. Similarly, BJP has taken an unexpected lead in Katehari, another seat previously held by the SP. Other BJP wins appear to be in Gaziabad and Khair. The SP is holding its ground in Karhal and Fूलपुर.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav urged party workers to remain vigilant at counting centers, citing concerns about irregularities. The SP had earlier requested recounts in several booths in Meerapur following alleged voting discrepancies.

The BJP’s performance surpasses its 2022 assembly election results in these constituencies, where they secured only four seats. The by-election results are being analyzed as a potential indicator of public sentiment ahead of the upcoming state elections. The BSP’s performance in these elections will be closely scrutinized to gauge its current strength.
