Sat Nov 23 14:32:01 UTC 2024: ## Mysuru to Get Comprehensive Development Plan Based on Citizen Feedback
**Mysuru, Karnataka, November 23, 2024** – A comprehensive development plan for Mysuru, factoring in citizen feedback and the city’s historical character, is in the works. District in-charge Minister H.C. Mahadevappa announced this following a stakeholder meeting on Saturday. The plan aims to address the city’s threefold population increase since independence and prepare for projected growth over the next 40-50 years.
The meeting, which gathered input from 28 participants, highlighted several key concerns. Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar advocated for upgrading the Mysuru City Corporation to a Greater Mysuru City Corporation to attract additional central funding. MLA Tanvir Sait emphasized the need to revisit past City Development Plans (CDPs) and ensure their implementation. Other MLAs raised concerns about unplanned growth in revenue layouts, suggesting the regularization of approximately 150 affected layouts.
Minister Venkatesh stressed the importance of integrating education and tourism into Mysuru’s development strategy. However, MLC A.H. Vishwanath criticized the process, citing a lack of a pre-prepared action plan and questioning the approval of eight-story buildings near Chamundi Hills, raising concerns about heritage preservation. Minister Mahadevappa assured that all suggestions would be considered before finalizing the plan. He also noted the significant funding allocated by the Chief Minister for various development projects in the city.
