**Puttaparthi, November 23, 2024** – The 43rd convocation ceremony of Sri Sathya Sai University was held Friday at the Purna Chandra Hall in Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi. The event saw 21 students awarded gold medals, 14 receiving PhDs, and 461 graduating with degrees.
The ceremony’s chief guest, Sethuraman Panchanathan, Director of the US National Science Foundation, lauded the university’s unique emphasis on values-based education, calling it a model for institutions worldwide. Panchanathan, who has visited numerous universities globally, stated that he had never encountered one with such a distinct focus. He urged graduates to embody the spirit of Sathya Sai Baba and contribute meaningfully to society.
The convocation was presided over by University Chancellor Chakravarti, who along with Panchanathan, conferred the degrees. Other dignitaries in attendance included R.J. Ratnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sathya Sai Central Trust; Vice-Chancellor Raghavendra Prasad; and several Trust members.
The university’s 43rd convocation coincided with the upcoming 99th birth anniversary celebrations of Sathya Sai Baba. Large numbers of devotees from across India and abroad have already arrived in Puttaparthi for the celebrations, which will feature Governor Abdul Nazir as the chief guest. A grand procession, including a golden chariot, is planned for the evening.
