**Jaipur, Rajasthan:** The final round of counting in the Salumber Assembly constituency by-election saw a stunning upset, with BJP candidate Shanta Meena securing victory against BAP candidate Jitesh Kumar Katara. This win significantly altered the initial predictions.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Kirodilal Meena’s brother, Jagmohan Meena, suffered defeat in the Dausa Assembly seat. As of the latest updates, Congress leads in one constituency and BAP in another. BJP candidate Rajendra Bhambhu is projected to win the Jhunjhunu seat by a significant margin of over 42,000 votes. Anil Kumar Katara of BAP is also expected to win the Chaurasi seat, currently leading by over 21,000 votes with only a few thousand votes remaining to be counted.
Seven assembly seats were up for grabs in these by-elections, triggered by five sitting MLAs becoming MPs and two due to the demise of incumbents. Prior to the election, one seat each was held by BJP, BAP, and Hanuman Beniwal’s RLP, while four were held by Congress.
