**Haridwar, Uttarakhand:** The Guruukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya’s Department of Physical Education and Sports is hosting a major inter-university volleyball tournament from November 22nd to 26th, 2024. The event, dubbed the “Volleyball Maha Kumbh,” will see 87 universities from the northern region compete at the Dayanand Stadium.

Uttarakhand’s Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, inaugurated the tournament, encouraging students to integrate sports into their lives for holistic development and highlighting government quotas in various sectors for athletes. The university’s Chancellor, Dr. Satyapal Singh, emphasized the university’s rich sporting history, while Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hemlata K. spoke about the strength and teamwork fostered by volleyball.

The event is being hailed as a significant achievement for the university’s Physical Education and Sports Department, spearheaded by Dr. Ajay Malik and Dr. Shiv Kumar Chauhan. The tournament is expected to showcase the vibrant sporting spirit among students across India. Several dignitaries, including former MLA Swami Yatiswaranand Maharaj, were present at the opening ceremony.
