**Lucknow, UP:** The Uttar Pradesh Doctors Cricket League commenced Friday with a series of exciting matches showcasing impressive batting performances from the participating doctors. Five matches were played on the inaugural day across various grounds in Lucknow including Victoria Park and the Medical College ground.
The first match between Georgian Lucknow and Mathura Warlords at Victoria Park saw Georgian Lucknow post a challenging 175/8 in 20 overs, thanks to a stellar 65 from Dr. Pawan and a solid 59 from Dr. Rana. Mathura Warlords were bowled out for 130 in 17 overs, despite a valiant 70 by Dr. Prince Singh.
Saharanpur Shurvir’s innings of 83 all out in 19.5 overs was no match for Meerut Gladiators who chased down the total in just 7.3 overs with two wickets remaining. Abhiraj Thakur’s quickfire 39 and Sandeep Sahgal’s unbeaten 17 led Meerut to victory.
Muradabad Marbles put up a strong 184/7 against IMA Bareilly at Gandhi Bagh ground. Ankit Verma’s 71 and Dr. Sky’s 27 formed the backbone of their innings. IMA Bareilly managed 149 all out in 19.5 overs, with Dr. Atul Gangwar (39) and Dr. Irfan (26) offering resistance.
Meerut Gladiators and Mathura Warlords clashed again in another thrilling encounter at Victoria Park. Meerut posted 183/7 in their 20 overs, driven by Vivek Singh’s 81 and Pankaj Kumar’s 51. Mathura Warlords, however, chased down the target in the final ball, with Dr. Amit’s explosive 91 (including 10 fours and four sixes), Dabbu’s 34, and Dr. Prince Singh’s 30 securing a remarkable win.
The final match of the day between Brother Club and AMA Prayagraj, also at Victoria Park, saw Brother Club score 131/6 in 20 overs. Dr. Abhilash Chaturvedi’s 41 was a highlight. AMA Prayagraj successfully chased the target, reaching 135/4 in 18.1 overs.
The final of the Uttar Pradesh Doctors Cricket League is scheduled for November 24th.
