LOS ANGELES, CA – Netflix has released a new five-part nature documentary series, “Our Oceans,” narrated by former President Barack Obama. The series, which premiered Thursday, explores the Pacific, Indian, Atlantic, Arctic, and Southern oceans.
A behind-the-scenes Instagram video shows Obama recording his narration, teasing the series with the line, “Our oceans are vast realms of wonder, danger, and mystery. Explore new worlds just below the surface.”
The Emmy-winning wildlife filmmaker James Honeyborne directed “Our Oceans,” produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground Productions. This is the latest in a string of nature documentaries produced by Higher Ground, following the success of “Our Great National Parks” (also narrated by Obama and which earned him a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Narrator). Higher Ground has also produced a diverse range of projects, including the children’s show “Waffles + Mochi” and the docuseries “Working: What We Do All Day.” “Our Oceans” is now streaming on Netflix.
