**Vijayawada, November 22, 2024** – The Andhra Pradesh government has announced significant changes to its pension distribution system, aimed at simplifying the process and addressing issues related to unclaimed payments. Minister for MSME, Rural Poverty Eradication, and Empowerment of NRI Affairs, Kondapalli Srinivas, revealed the new rules on Thursday.
The key changes include: payment of two months’ arrears in the third month for beneficiaries who fail to collect their pension for two consecutive months. However, failure to collect the pension for three consecutive months will result in the pension being permanently discontinued, classifying the beneficiary as a permanent migrant. Re-enrollment is possible upon return to their original residence.
Furthermore, in cases where the head of a family receiving an old-age pension dies, the wife will automatically receive the widow’s pension the following month.
District-level officials, including District Rural Development Project Directors, MPDOs, and Municipal Commissioners, have received orders to implement these changes immediately. The government expects these measures to improve efficiency and ensure timely pension disbursement to eligible recipients.
