Thu Nov 21 16:18:29 UTC 2024: ## Namma Yatri Mobility App Expands to Mangaluru, Empowering Local Drivers

**Mangaluru, November 21, 2024** – The Bengaluru-based mobility app Namma Yatri, designed to connect drivers directly with customers, officially launched its operations in Mangaluru today. The launch, presided over by Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader, follows a successful month-long trial period which saw nearly 500 trips completed and over 300 drivers signed up.

Namma Yatri, built on the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform, aims to eliminate intermediaries and empower drivers by providing them with direct access to customers. Speaker Khader praised the initiative, stating that it “is an admirable step towards empowering local drivers and redefining mobility,” adding that he hopes to see this model replicated across Karnataka.

Following its success in Mangaluru, Namma Yatri plans to expand its services to Manipal and Udupi in the coming weeks. The app is already operational in several other Karnataka cities including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Tumakuru, and Kalaburagi. The initiative is seen as a significant step towards improving both commuting experiences and livelihood opportunities for drivers in the region.
