**Bengaluru, November 21, 2024** – Karnataka’s popular Nandini milk brand officially launched its products in the Delhi-NCR market today, aiming to tap into the region’s substantial dairy demand. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presided over the launch, highlighting Karnataka’s position as India’s second-largest milk producer after Gujarat.
The KMF (Karnataka Milk Federation) will initially supply 2.5 lakh litres of milk daily to Delhi-NCR, with plans to increase this to 5 lakh litres within six months. This expansion addresses Karnataka’s milk surplus, with approximately 4 lakh litres of daily excess currently available. The products, including various cow milk variants, curd, and buttermilk, are priced slightly lower than competitors like Mother Dairy and Amul.
The undertaking presents logistical challenges, with transportation requiring 50-54 hours over a 2,500 km journey. However, KMF Chairman L.B.P. Bheema Naik assured that milk quality will be maintained throughout transit. The KMF has partnered with 40 dealers in the Delhi-NCR region to ensure smooth distribution.
CM Siddaramaiah emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting milk producers, citing a recently increased incentive of ₹5 per litre – the highest in the state’s history. He also highlighted past efforts to protect farmers from exploitation by establishing milk producer associations. The launch marks a significant step for Nandini’s nationwide expansion and strengthens Karnataka’s position in the national dairy market.
