Fri Nov 22 14:57:31 UTC 2024: ## CBI Files Fifth Chargesheet in NEET 2024 Leak Case

**Ranchi, November 22, 2024** – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its fifth chargesheet on Friday in the ongoing investigation into the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 question paper leak. The chargesheet, filed in a Patna special court, names five additional accused, bringing the total number of individuals charged to 45. All accused are currently in judicial custody.

The five new accused are Amit Kumar Singh (Dhanbad, Jharkhand), Sudip Kumar, Yuvraj Kumar (both Bokaro, Jharkhand), Abhimanyu Patel (Nalanda, Bihar), and Amit Kumar (Patna). They face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, abetment, criminal breach of trust, cheating, theft, causing disappearance of evidence, and dishonestly receiving stolen property, as well as charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Previous chargesheets, filed on August 1, September 19, October 5, and November 7, implicated 40 other individuals. The CBI took over the investigation from Patna’s Shastri Nagar police station on June 23.

The investigation has revealed that the question paper was accessed at Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, on May 5, 2024, by Pankaj Kumar, who allegedly acted in collusion with the school principal, Ahsanul Haque (also the city NTA coordinator), and vice-principal Muhammad Imtiyaz Alam (the centre superintendent). Sophisticated tools used to breach the security of the question papers were seized by investigators.

The CBI has identified and shared with the National Testing Agency (NTA) and Ministry of Education the names of candidates who allegedly benefited from the leak and those who impersonated others during the exam. The investigation continues.
