**Chennai, November 22, 2024** – A workshop organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chennai, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity International, emphasized the critical role of construction chemicals in enhancing the durability and sustainability of affordable housing. Approximately 60 stakeholders from across Tamil Nadu attended the Friday event.
The workshop highlighted the BIS’s commitment to quality assurance in affordable housing and explored the significance of construction chemicals in building climate-resilient homes. Speakers included Deepak Viswanathan (Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter, Habitat for Humanity International), D. Jeevanandam (Joint Director, BIS, Chennai), and Kartheck Pandiyan (General Secretary, Construction Chemicals Manufacturers’ Association). The event underscored the importance of using high-quality construction materials to ensure the longevity and resilience of affordable housing projects.
