**Kozhikode, Kerala –** Veteran actor Meghanathan, son of legendary actor Balan K Nair, passed away early this morning at the age of 60. He breathed his last around 2 AM at Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode, where he had been admitted recently due to respiratory issues. His last rites will be performed today in Shoranur, Palakkad.
Meghanathan, known for his powerful performances in over 50 films and television shows across Malayalam and Tamil cinema, predominantly played villainous roles, earning him widespread recognition and a dedicated fanbase. He made his film debut in 1980 with P.N. Menon’s “Astra,” starting as a studio boy before rising through the ranks. His notable film credits include “Chekol,” “Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji,” “Vastavam,” “Panchagni,” and his final film, “Kooman,” released in 2022.
The actor’s death has sent shockwaves through the film industry and social media is filled with tributes from fans and colleagues. He is survived by his wife, Susmitha, daughter Parvathy, and siblings Anil, Ajaykumar, Lata, and Sujata. Meghanathan completed his education in Chennai and held a diploma in Automobile Engineering from Coimbatore before pursuing his passion for acting. His family resides in Shoranur.
