Available in 12 languages, including Hindi, English, and several regional languages, Waves aims to bridge the digital divide and promote Indian talent.
The platform offers a diverse content library, including live TV channels (65+), movies, TV series, interactive games, online shopping via ONDC, photo galleries, ebooks, and live events such as “Mann Ki Baat” and religious ceremonies. Subscription plans range from a basic offering with single-device streaming and standard definition to a premium “Platinum” plan featuring up to four simultaneous streams in Ultra HD, downloads, and discounts on Video-on-Demand (TVOD) services. While the app is available on Android and iOS, payments must be made through the official website.
Waves leverages BharatNet, part of the Digital India initiative, to expand accessibility to even remote areas. Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju, emphasized the platform’s role in supporting the government’s digital inclusion goals. The platform also collaborates with emerging talent and film institutions like FTII and Annapurna College to showcase their work.
The launch coincided with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), with exclusive content premieres including “Roll No. 52” and “Fauji 2.0.” Further programming will include animated series, crime dramas, and music shows.
