Wed Nov 20 18:36:55 UTC 2024: ## One Direction Members and Simon Cowell Mourn Liam Payne at Private Funeral
**Amersham, Buckinghamshire –** A private funeral service was held today for Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer who died aged 31 last month following a fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina. The service, held at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, drew a large gathering of mourners, including Payne’s One Direction bandmates – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson – as well as X-Factor judge Simon Cowell.
Styles arrived with actor James Corden, while Cowell attended with his fiancée, Lauren Silverman. Payne’s former partner, Cheryl Tweedy, and her Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, were also present. Tweedy and Payne share a seven-year-old son, Bear. Other attendees included Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, and Damian Hurley. The service was also attended by This Morning presenter Rochelle Humes and her husband, Marvin Humes (formerly of JLS).
A horse-drawn carriage carrying a dark blue coffin adorned with white and blue floral tributes, including one reading “Son” and another “Daddy,” proceeded to the church. Fans gathered outside, some holding photographs and flowers, fell silent as Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen, arrived. One floral tribute depicted bowling pins, a nod to Payne’s love of the sport.
Payne’s death, which occurred on October 16th in Buenos Aires, was attributed to multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding, according to the autopsy. Three individuals have been charged in Argentina in connection with his death, facing accusations of supplying narcotics and abandoning a person resulting in death. Payne rose to fame as a member of One Direction after appearing on The X-Factor in 2010. The band went on to achieve global superstardom before their hiatus in 2016. Payne subsequently pursued a successful solo career.
