**COIMBATORE, November 21, 2024** – Valparai police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Kerala for allegedly swapping a woman’s debit card and withdrawing cash. K. Najeeb, a resident of Cherthala in Alappuzha district, was apprehended following a complaint filed by 45-year-old Murugammal of Nallamudi near Valparai.

On November 7th, Murugammal sought Najeeb’s help at an SBI ATM to check her balance. After she revealed her PIN, Najeeb falsely claimed her account was empty and swapped her card with another before leaving. Murugammal subsequently discovered ₹9,000 had been withdrawn.

Police, using ATM CCTV footage, identified Najeeb and arrested him. During the arrest, authorities recovered 43 debit cards and ₹5,290 in cash. Najeeb has been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
