**Delhi, India –** A minor girl jumped from a moving minibus in North Delhi’s Burari area on Wednesday evening following an altercation with the driver and another man, police confirmed Thursday. The incident, initially sparking rumors of sexual assault, led to a large crowd gathering and the apprehension of the driver, Deepak, and another individual, Manoj.
According to police, the girl, who boarded the bus at Ibrahimpur Chowk, argued with Deepak and Manoj, who are acquaintances. She then jumped from the bus to escape the situation. The bus was subsequently stopped by bystanders near Shalimar Palace Chowk.
Responding to reports of a sexual assault, police arrived to find a crowd had gathered and assaulted Deepak and Manoj. All three individuals were taken to the hospital for medical examinations. The girl, in a statement recorded with a counsellor, denied any sexual assault, molestation, or harassment. Her medical report corroborated her statement.
Based on the girl’s account, police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), and 137(2) (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Burari police station. Investigations are ongoing to fully determine the sequence of events.
