Thu Nov 21 16:50:25 UTC 2024: ## Exit Polls Predict BJP Sweep in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, Opposition Remains Skeptical
**Mumbai/Ranchi, November 21, 2024** – Exit polls released following the conclusion of voting in Maharashtra and Jharkhand’s assembly elections paint a picture of a BJP-led victory in both states. However, reactions from opposing parties have been sharply divided, with some dismissing the polls as unreliable.
Most exit polls project a decisive win for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra, predicting anywhere from 137-200 seats out of 288, well above the majority mark of 145. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh expressed confidence in a Mahayuti return, citing favorable by-election results across the nation and a pro-BJP atmosphere fueled by Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Haryana Minister Anil Vij echoed this sentiment, while Union Minister Ramdas Athawale highlighted the substantial central government investment in Maharashtra’s development over the past decade. However, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey dismissed the exit polls as mere “entertainment,” pointing to past inaccuracies. NCP leader Clyde Crasto similarly expressed skepticism, highlighting the “ground reality” and asserting that the fight is close.
In Jharkhand, the picture is less clear, with exit polls varying significantly. Some predict a comfortable NDA victory, with projections ranging from 40 to 50 seats out of 81, while others indicate a tighter race, with the JMM-led alliance potentially retaining power. BJP leaders like Amar Kumar Bauri expressed confidence in a change of government, criticizing the current administration. However, Congress leaders like Rakesh Sinha and Pranav Jha remain optimistic about an INDIA alliance win, emphasizing grassroots support and dismissing the significance of exit polls.
The conflicting predictions have led to a flurry of responses from political figures in both states, with some expressing unwavering confidence in their respective alliances’ prospects, while others question the reliability of exit polls and highlight the need to wait for the official results on November 23rd. The final outcome will be known only after the vote count is completed.
