**New Delhi:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a major protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Thursday, escalating its attacks ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. The demonstration, led by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, saw a large turnout of party leaders and workers. Among those participating was former AAP minister Kailash Gahlot, who recently joined the BJP.

The protest focused on allegations of corruption against Kejriwal, specifically targeting what the BJP calls his lavish “Sheesh Mahal” (palace) residence and accusations of theft of gold-plated toilet seats. Sachdeva drew parallels between Kejriwal and former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, highlighting the alleged extravagance. The BJP claims Kejriwal has spent crores of rupees on renovations to his official residence.

The protest resulted in several BJP leaders, including Sachdeva himself, being detained by police. While the BJP continues to press its allegations, Kejriwal and his party are yet to respond officially to these latest accusations. The escalating political tension sets the stage for a fiercely contested election battle in Delhi.
