Tue Nov 19 13:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Browns Face Quick Turnaround, Injury Concerns Ahead of Thursday Night Showdown with Steelers

**Cleveland, OH** – The Cleveland Browns are facing a challenging week, juggling a short turnaround for their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a growing injury list. Head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the media Monday, acknowledging the disappointment of Sunday’s 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints, a game in which the Browns surrendered three touchdowns in the final quarter after a 14-14 tie.

Stefanski emphasized the need for a rapid shift in focus: “These Thursday night games don’t allow you to spend much time thinking about the previous one,” he said. “You’ve got to get on the next opponent.”

Adding to the team’s woes, kicker Dustin Hopkins, who set a Browns single-season record for made field goals in 2023, missed both of his field goal attempts against the Saints. Despite the struggles, Stefanski confirmed Hopkins will remain the starting kicker.

The injury report is particularly concerning. Left tackle Dawand Jones suffered a fractured fibula and will miss the remainder of the season requiring surgery. While his sample size is limited, Stefanski noted the value of his game and practice experience in evaluating his long-term potential.

The Browns’ injury concerns extend to other key players. Tight end Geoff Swaim is in concussion protocol and will miss the Steelers game. Cornerbacks Denzel Ward (ribs, ankle) and Greg Newsome II (shoulder) are day-to-day. There’s a glimmer of hope, however, as left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., who has been dealing with a knee injury, could be available for Thursday. Stefanski stated the team will assess his status throughout the week.

The Browns will resume practice Tuesday as they prepare for a crucial divisional clash against their bitter rivals. Stefanski indicated he will provide further injury updates later in the week.
