Tue Nov 19 16:56:20 UTC 2024: ## JEE Advanced Exam: Three Attempts Rule Scrapped

**New Delhi:** The Joint Admission Board (JAB), responsible for conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, has reversed its earlier decision to allow students three attempts at the exam. Initially, IIT Kanpur, which is organizing the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, announced on November 5th that candidates would be permitted three consecutive attempts starting in 2025. However, this decision has been rescinded just two weeks later.

The JAB has confirmed that the rule remains unchanged, allowing only two attempts at the JEE Advanced. This means students who passed their intermediate examinations in March 2024 or March 2025 will be eligible to appear for the exam, scheduled for May 2024. Candidates who passed their intermediate exams before March 2024 will not be permitted to take the exam. The change in policy has raised questions among students who had been preparing based on the previous announcement.
