**Kolkata, November 19** – Bharat Deb Varma, a member of the Tripura royal family and father of actresses Raima and Riya Sen, passed away this morning at his Kolkata residence. He was 78. Varma, husband of veteran actress Moon Moon Sen, reportedly succumbed at around 9 am before an ambulance from a Dhakuria private hospital could reach his home. He had been experiencing a decline in health.
Varma’s lineage was notable, tracing back to the royal families of Tripura, Cooch Behar, and Vadodara. His mother, Ila Devi, was a princess of Cooch Behar and sister to the renowned Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. His grandmother, Indira, was the only daughter of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Vadodara. The family is yet to release details regarding funeral arrangements.
