Mon Nov 18 12:09:08 UTC 2024: ## North India Braces for Cold Snap, Dense Fog Blankets Several States
**NEW DELHI, November 18, 2024** – A cold wave is sweeping across North India, bringing with it dense fog and a significant drop in temperatures, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature is expected to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next five days across the region.
The IMD predicts dense fog will persist for the next two days in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himalayan West Bengal, and other parts of Northwest India. Similar conditions are expected in Assam and Meghalaya for the next 24 hours. Conversely, Tamil Nadu and Kerala may see rainfall within the next 24 hours.
Delhi-NCR is already experiencing a change in weather, with dense fog expected to continue until November 20th. While the days are expected to remain dry, the combination of fog and pre-existing pollution levels raises concerns about smog formation.
Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and western Rajasthan are currently experiencing widespread dense fog, particularly impacting the Uttar Pradesh Terai region in the mornings. The IMD warns of a 2-3 degree Celsius drop in minimum temperatures across the North-Western plains, impacting Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
