**Tirunelveli, November 18, 2024** – Recent rainfall in the Tirunelveli district has resulted in a significant increase in water levels at the Papanasam and Manimuthar dams. As of 6 a.m. Monday, the Papanasam dam registered a water level of 87.10 feet (out of a maximum 143 feet), with an inflow of 1941.52 cusecs and a discharge of 1504.75 cusecs. The Manimuthar dam showed a water level of 71.60 feet (out of a maximum 118 feet), with an inflow of 1613.89 cusecs and a discharge of only 35 cusecs.
Rainfall totals in the 24 hours leading up to 6 a.m. Monday varied across the district, with Manimutharu recording the highest amount at 20 mm. Other areas reported rainfall ranging from 1.60 mm in Cheranmahadevi to 16 mm in Oothu. The remaining areas, including Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli, Kalakadu, Manjolai, Kakkachi, and Nalumukku, recorded rainfall between 2 mm and 14 mm.
